My thought of the week, April 15, 2011

My Dad is getting older.  And thinner and not eating as much as we think he should. Although he scoffed down almost a whole bag of Sour Cream and Onion chips.

And as time goes on I think about all the things we know.  "We" the people that have been here a little over 40 years and longer.
So much knowledge, and thank goodness a lot of it has been shared.  And there is just so much of it that hasn't been shared.  So much expertise that hasn't been shared. And some of the people who knew how to do things have since passed away.
Ah wouldn't it be great if we could share our information with each other.

Oh, another thought.  I am noticing that there is an expansion of knowledge.  It seems as though people, some anyway, no longer think that they need to hoard their knowledge.  Like the days of old when only the Monks knew about religion.  Now there is Open Source!  What a wonderful concept.

Wikipedia is a perfect example of awesome collaboration.

I am looking forward to a new education where collaboration is the Context of all learning.

It just makes sense.

We don't expect people to all be in the same position in life.  Why do we expect them to know the exact same stuff at school.  Some people are better at some subjects.  Let them be.  And have people learn about what interests them.

So do we need a Waldorf School in Victoria?  That would be pretty cool.  Although with the way technology is going there may be a different off-shoot of that form of learning that would be even better.

Who is up for transforming the Education System?
