Injuries Sidetracking My Direction

I haven’t been tending to my blog. I was feeling like I should write something. And life was in this “waiting” mode.

I was notified of a Orientation to FosterParenting at the End of September. And I confirmed that 3 of us would attend it. So that is done.

We, Dave and I, have a commitment to take the family on Vacation this year. There are a few things in the way of that. Such as Passports. The children need Passports. Our original date was for October 15th. So far we have gotten the Passport pictures taken.

Dave got Critical Illness Insurance with a Return On Premium. Which means he will get back ALL of the premiums he pays BACK after 15 years if he doesn’t ever have to use his policy. Kind of like an enforced savings plan. And he has Term 10 until he is 49 that is really cheap. He is the top level of insurability.

And we are getting our finances in order so that we can renovate our house. At the very least we will replace all the windows and doors. And all of the appliances. And get a new bathtub. And if we go for the full renovation, which we would like, we will add a second storey to the house.

Now is the time to look for alternate ways to bring in money. I am an Advisor with MoneyMinding and I am investigating money management programs to track and guide my clients with their finances.

So far I have chosen Quicken. I will give my opinion of this program in a latter addition to my blog.

The injury I speak of is the 4 stitches I got on my nose. The bruised and sore knees and the sore arms that are the result of a fall on September 2 at the Bay Centre mall. It seems interesting to me that when I take steps to get what I want in life that these sorts of sidetracking events occur.

I did get to experience myself as a trooper once again. This time I got my stitches in with no freezing. The Doctor even clipped bits of skin off that didn’t quite fit together. All was well. Then my next experience of being a trooper was when I removed my own stitches. I took them out on Saturday. I was really supposed to wait until Sunday but I had my reasons and removed them and felt much better.

Now while still recovering I am back on track with my investigations into cashflow increasing options. I am using the Freedom Rocks software to learn how it works with trading on the foreign exchange markets.

I went to the MoneyMinding Mix and Mingle and enjoyed the company of other like minded people. I also got to hear what is happening with Real Estate in Victoria from Tony Joe. One thing I realized about myself is I am not naturally a Mingler. It is something that I have to encourage myself to do. I will think of something that will be a great structure for me to Mingle. One where it just happens regularly and I don’t even have to think about it.

Another phase is having a big bin in our driveway to facilitate removal of old stuff that we don’t need anymore. It arrived this morning.
So many things to do. And I am creating a future that looks like Being Relaxed, Inquisitive & Creative.

An update and the next project

Well I spoke with a woman in charge of the Safe Babies Program. Seems I will have to be a regular Foster Parent first. We will go to the next information night and while we are waiting. We are redoing out living room. We are taking out the yucky old carpet. And putting in laminate floors. We will have a new love seat and chair and a big TV with a 47″ flat screen LCD. I am so excited about the project. I felt a little deflated after speaking with the woman in charge of the Foster Program but after I got over that I am appreciative that we had such an in-depth conversation. I got straight about the timeline. I can and probably will be a foster parent for a long time. And there really isn’t a rush for me to jump into anything. I will provide respite and relief first to see if being a full time foster parent will work with my family.

So while we are getting ready for that, the other thing that we want to do is to go on a family vacation. We really haven’t been on one for about 12 years. That is far too long to wait between vacations. We are looking at Disneyland, Disney World, Hawaii, San Fransisco and who knows where else we may end up.

To go on a family vacation we need to find employees that can handle everything while we are away. So that is another thing on our To-Do list.

MoneyMinding and Landmark Education and our Church are great structures to keep us humble, and on track.

Till next time

Canada Day was multi-fun!

MoneyMinding is the best vehicle I have found to access what I really want in life. After looking at what I really wanted in my life and where I really wanted to go I found out that home is where I really want to be.

I love working downtown. I love my Lottery Booth customers. I enjoy the work I do. And I only want to work a few days a week. And I want to be a Foster Mum. For the Safe Babies Program. It will be an intense job but it is something I think I will love to do. I still have children at home that want me around. Lucky me. And I want to be useful. And I am great with little babies. And having babies in the house while I have these other hands to help me will be wonderful. When we talked about it at home I never even heard anything negative about it from my family. They even started to think in terms of when the baby is here.
To do this we will need to change some things in the house. We will definitely need to change the flooring. That will make it cleaner in here and easier for us to use all of the space we have. And Dave told me that our Accountant is paperless. I want to go paperless too.

Another thing we realized is that to stay home we need a larger income. And a few renovations will be needed to have a little baby in our home. But for now we will manage with what we have.

I am creating affiliate websites, which I can do from home. In fact if you want to support me in this journey click on one of the links and if you like what you see sign up and that will help create the income our family needs. It may not be much but if you tell your friend you found something you liked on this website or my other one that isn’t up and active yet then they could help too. We can all make a difference in life. All we need to do is look for what is wanted and needed. And if you can’t do it, you may be able to support some who is doing the job.

Another way to get income is to help my Dad to sell his stuff online. (Which in turn will make my Mum very happy). My Dad had two workshops, three actually. The largest one is over 3000 square feet large. He is 80 years old this year and would like to sell his things in a new way. He has always schlepped his stuff to garage sales or swap & shops but that entailed a lot of lifting and he isn’t physically up to that anymore. I also want to spend more time with my parents. I enjoy spending time with them and my Dad is also super with newborn babies. He always could make the fall asleep in an instant. Must be his slow steady heartbeat. So there are many reasons why this is the way for me to go.

I am still available for coaching and advising although until I get into fostering I won’t know how much time I will have for it. I guess only time will tell. This is what I have been formulating in my mind. The whole picture of What’s Next for me.

So let me tell you what we did next. My husband, Dave is in the Money Seminar with Landmark Education and he created a project. He wanted to sell glow sticks at Canada Day. He went down to city hall to find out about licenses to sell and bought the stock and we got a float and we went to work.

It was initially the boys and the girls. I was with the two girls and Dave was with the two boys. And we did very well. We were softy’s and sold our product for less than we originally planned but it was such great fun to provide families with something that they could use and make their kids happy with at the same time.

I have been a participant in Canada Day with my own little kids many times and bought the glow sticks off of people for $4 and $5 per glow stick. We were selling them for $3 or 2 for $5 and when the night was half over we were selling them to some big families for 5 for $10. The numbers aren’t really the point. What we all learned was that we like to be together. We work well as a team. And we had fun and learned about selling. Marketing. Advertising. And customer relations. We had one girl that wasn’t happy with how her glow stick was glowing and we took it back and gave her new one.

We had an experience with requests. One girl asked if she could just have one and we said,”no.” and she said some words that made me think she didn’t like my answer.

We had other people say they didn’t have enough and we took what they had as payment.

There were many lessons we learned selling a product as a family. We are all grateful for our experiences. I don’t know if we will do it again next year. If we do maybe Dave will expand his idea of friends for Canada Day and we will do a UTube video and send it out to get some publicity.

All of this stemming from Dave and I looking at what we really want in life. What really lights us up. What calls us into action.

It is great to have a powerful why. I am not sure we will be accepted as a Safe Baby Home but even if we are not, we will have found out things about what we can do that we may never be able to find out any other way.

Blessings and Desires

Who could know that it is harder to list your desires than your blessings.

What is it that I really want? I want things like a world that works for everyone. That includes me. I want the world to work for me too.

What is possible in the area of wealth building. What is your desired amount of income? How will you get it? What ways can you see that happening?

The most important thing is to ask the right questions. That is what I remember most from the MoneyMinding training. Also the other answer to any question about finances and what you do with them or if you need insurance is . . . .

It depends.

Call me if you are interested in finding out about what type of lifestyle you would like to see in your future.

From our MoneyMinding Mastery course we created an Investment Consortium to create wealth from $100 seed money. Stay tuned to see what happens next.

Am I really going to get what I want?

Can I imagine actually seeing the future? Exactly how I want it. I can see it now. The house expanded and repaired. With new windows and sliding glass doors. A kitchen that rivals any restaurant. A movie and games room. Extra bedrooms for friends to come and stay over and have pajama parties. A lovely lawn with a gazebo and outdoor bar-b-que. A huge library with tons of books. And banks of computers and Cars and maybe even a boat.

And I can actually see that I may get that. Like it is really possible. Not like something I am hoping for. But actually possible.
Dave and I are preparing for a new adventure. We must learn new things. And the one thing we haven’t really tried before is asking lots of questions. With teams of people. This will be fun and a little different.
And we have a great friend who is giving us advise. (David, that would be you). And I am confident that we will enjoy the ride. Nothing else to write tonight as I don’t know what will happen next.

Until next time.

Preparing for the Journey

Today is March 10. My Dad just turned 80 two days ago. I also found out that my cousin Ian, who has not lived in the same province as me for approximately 20 or more years is going to retire as far away from me as a person can get and still be in Canada. Prince Edward Island. And one of the reasons would be . . . you guessed it . . . MONEY!

Lots of his wife’s family is out there too but it intrigues me to think that money can control so many things.

Do we think that we are controlling our own lives? Is it all just a mystery?

The Landmark Forum is in full swing in our little city of Victoria. The completion of it is on Tuesday. A place were people get access to being in control of your own life.

What a gift.

If you would like to find out more about the Landmark Forum. Go to www.landmarkeducation.com and go to the online introduction to find out a little bit about it.

I have what seems to be a head cold. Mostly a cough and a runny nose. I haven’t had anything like this for almost a year. I do lots of metaphysical energy work and I have looked into the “reasons” I may be experiencing these symptoms now.

I am about to transform myself into something unrecognizable to myself. And I make up that all the cells in my body are quickly finding their new home. I just wish I could sleep while they are doing it.

Just an aside, remember that it is your own early warning system that you are stuck in a story if you have lost your sense of humour. Take the red pill and call me in the morning ; )

Today . . . one of those days - Jan 30, 2008

Filed under: Life, Passion, Relationships — January 30, 2008 @ 5:25 pm Edit This

Have you ever realized that what you thought was true was in fact not. That the world of your creation did NOT agree with you? I have had one of those days.

While I was married the first time my late husband did some unusual things. And why is it that the same thing can happen with your next mate? Is it me?

I choose to think that it isn’t me. That it is just something in the water, in the air, the phase of the moon. . . anything . . . but me.

But if I were to coach someone else on this issue I would tell them that it isn’t any of those things. In fact what happened didn’t mean anything I have previously made it mean.

OK. Great. But I still feel a knot in the pit of my stomach. Interesting how that description really occurs. Or seems to anyway. MY heart is beating in a way that I know it is there. Sometimes stronger than others but not it’s usual soft flutter.

I want to break something. I want to go to sleep. I want to go to sleep until it is all over.
I feel like life will never be the same again. But maybe that idea is a myth. That anything can ever stay the same for very long. The good times will not last just as the bad times are fleeting. It is actually good news. But what to do when I am in the thick of it is what I am inquiring into. What would be the most productive use of my time. Clearly I have a very transformed view of it all. Or am I just numb?

24 years ago today I was skiing on a Mountain on one of the most beautiful days of my life. I had so much fun with my friends. Although I was somewhat out of shape I still managed to ski all the hills. Some with the help of my friends.

And then we got into the bus. All 53 of us. We were leaving the ski hill to return to our hometown of Victoria. As we traveled down the mountain my friends and I were joking around. Someone had brought a PlayGirl Magazine and we were snooping through it and having a good laugh. When I noticed something was off. It just didn’t feel right. The teacher at the front of the bus informed us that the we should stay in our seats and something else that I can not recall. About this time was the time when I left my body and traveled above and had a view of what was going on. My friend, Garner, who was sitting beside me covered my body with his in an attempt to protect me from what would happen next.

The brakes had failed on the bus and our driver was originally trained as a paramedic. We were already going 50 miles an hour ( I heard this part of the story told to me years later so it may not be totally accurate) and our wonderful bus driver knew that if we were to go any faster we would all be killed. So he took the bus off the road. You can only imagine that it must have been like landing a small plane with no landing gear and no brakes. Our bus fell to its side, breaking windows and such and slid along the embankment until it was stopped by a large rock. People were thrown from the bus. It was later revealed that some of the seats were held on with bailer twine and so some of the seats came out too.

As for me, the top of my right ear was severed and probably just hung by a flap. I had a compression fracture of my neck at C2 and C4. I had a big gouge out of the back of my neck.

Two of my bus mates were much worse off than I was. Andy Kerr and Scott Branson had fatal injuries. Andy died soon after that accident and Scott died a few days later.

I don’t try to remember everything and I still remember lots. I don’t remember all of the peoples names who were on the bus with me. In fact I often forget who was on there with me until they bring it up.

Anyway, that is the anniversary that is today.

And I should probably be very gentle with myself today.

If any one would like to contact me.
